As you reflect on 2023 and look forward to your hopes and dreams for 2024, I want you to consider something:

How do you want to feel when you get there?

Everything we do in life is for a feeling.

The feelings on the other side of health goals are usually self-love, self-acceptance, confidence, energy, and improved relationships. But the way we lose weight is through restriction, starvation, willpower, beating ourselves up, and isolating ourselves.

There’s a gap, and that gap is the difference between failure and success.

Have you ever lost weight, and then gained it back?

This is why.

You thought when you lost the weight you’d feel better. But when you do it in a way that makes you feel worse both physically and emotionally, achieving the goal doesn’t create the feelings you need to maintain it.

This year, when you create your goals, consider that why you want to lose weight is more important than the weight you lose. 

If you want to gain confidence and self-love through weight loss, start now, not when your body fits the mold in your mind.

If you want to have more energy, start now. How can you listen to your body and create routines to improve your energy right now?

If you want to improve your relationships, start today. What can you do to create deeper connection that doesn’t involve changing your body?

We’re conditioned to want the long-term goal now.

People selling diets want you to think that weight loss is fast and that it’s the solution to life’s problems.

I’m here to challenge that.

Losing weight is an emotional process as much as it is a physical process. It involves learning the art of self-compassion. It’s learning to listen to what you need at the moment instead of chasing food to cover it up.

It’s about creating discipline from your higher self, the one that wants to see you prosper and become the best version of yourself, not the one that beats you up when you make mistakes.

If you approach weight loss the right way, every step of the journey improves your life in some small way.

Don’t fall into the trap of waiting until you get there. Everything you need to start feeling the way you want to is inside of you right now.

The process of change is just as important as the outcome.
